Reconstruction

So over the next week or so I intend to do some serious reconstruction to my site. We're talking total overhaul. In the meantime, its current build will hopefully remain available but check back soon for a different flavor.

Been Keepin' Busy

So I have been employed now by Harrington Group in Orlando, FL for almost a year now. We focus on simulation and training and specialize in 3DS Max. The models I've worked on here are some of the hardest I've done to date. Unfortunately though I cannot show any of them since the material are a bit sensitive, bit I certainly have learned some new techniques and skills that will stick with me.

I've haven't updated the site in bit but I'm still tightening my skillset. I'm also on the lookout for freelance work so let me know if you could use my assistance.

I've been working with Michael Cawood, an animator with some pretty impressive titles under his belt, on his animated short entitled Devils Angels and Dating. I've been doing modeling and texturing for the project and the short is scheduled to be shown at Siggraph 2010.

That's the production diary, check it out and/or join up if your interested in contributing to the project. I've met some talented people through it already and I'm having a blast working on it.

Keep watching, I'll post about some milestones.

Still truckin'

Carl's room is "temporarily" finished. Check it out on Bobby's demo reel here: http://robertwest3d.com/

So many ideas for projects tend to force things into an early completion. I put the other environment on hold. The scale of the scene is massive and its going to take a lot of time to finish it to the calibre that I want. In the mean time I've taken up a smaller project so that I can have more texture work to show. It was originally a scene I wanted for my demo reel and I'm not getting the chance to revisit it. I think some people will be able to relate to it and hopefully it will induce nostalgia for some of you. Stay tuned.

P.S. I'm still looking for some work!

Next

So Carl's Room is close to being finished. The important models are done and I'm waiting on some UVs so I can bring over the normal maps from Zbrush.

In the meantime I've continued work on my own project. It an environment piece inspired by the work of Khang Le. The block is very close to being done but I've begun work on the main element. Once I feel I've made enough progress I'll post the WIP so you can check it out.

Sites Up!

The website is officially up and running. I guess that means I have to keep my blog updated.

Currently I'm working on an environment for Bobby West to texture and light on his demo reel. He was inspired by Up to recreate a scene from that movie. Here is the link to the current WIP thread at CGTalk. Feel free to critique as well.

I'm still job hunting. Just really began applying to places outside of the industry. It really broke my heart but it needed to be done.

On a lighter note, I'm in desperate need of a co-op partner for Halo Wars on Xbox live. Send me a friend request if you're interested in tackling legendary. (GT: Near Fantastica)

Under Construction

Everything seems to be a work in progress right now. Your patience is appreciated.
